NESTA PROVOCATION EVENT

On Thursday 1st October, NESTA will launch a provocation by Professor John Goddard exploring the vital economic and social contribution of the UK's universities.
Professor John Goddard OBE, formerly Deputy Vice Chancellor Newcastle University, will present the provocation and then join a panel discussion with Professor Kathy Sykes, Professor of Sciences and Society and Professor Steve West, Vice-Chancellor the University of the West of England to debate the role of Universities in regional economic growth. Stian Westlake, NESTA's Executive Director, Policy and Research will moderate.
Making the most of the innovations and skills generated by our world-leading universities will be crucial to the UK's response to the recession. The provocation argues that publicly-funded universities in the UK have a civic duty to engage with wider society on the local, national and global scales, and explores what it would mean for universities to engage with this mission.
Please join us for what promises to be an excellent discussion.
Venue: Novotel Bristol, Victoria Street, Bristol, BS1 6HY
Time: 16:30 - 17:30 (Registration will be from 16:00 with presentations to start promptly at 16:30).
