Welcome to Urban Regeneration.

Urban Regeneration: Making a Difference is an innovative programme addressing some of the key urban regeneration challenges facing the north of England. The £3.2m programme, funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (Hefce), encompasses 46 projects set up around the themes of crime, community cohesion, health & well-being and enterprise.

Times Higher Award makes a difference

24th June 2010 A consortium of Northern universities has been declared the most Outstanding Knowledge Transfer team in British universities at the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards in London.  Knowledge 'transfer' or 'exchange', is the process by which universities interact with business and the community to meet the needs of society.

Engaging Communities Through Arts

Background:
This project has been evaluating the role that art and artists can play within regeneration, and how they can be used as a tool for community engagement.

Approach:
This multidisciplinary project has involved the implementation, evaluation and knowledge exchange of two contrasting arts-based community cohesion projects. One project, In Certain Places, has been evaluating the success of an existing arts project through individual feedback, facilitated through skype conversations, with a person living in Preston.
